Let the Stewards be the persons of solid piety, who know Methodist Doctrine and Discipline, who have given evidence of their ability, desire and practice of witnessing to the Gospel of the kingdom of God in and beyond their environs.  Such persons shall be capable of transacting the temporal business of the church.
